What started out to be a private and simple blog meant to help me disseminate what I deemed to be important information about this investment to my family and friends has turned into a very popular site where people from all over the world are now reading the posted information.
Such a response tells me that we investors are looking for a singular “HUB” for information and resources, as this is what this site provides. I have made no effort to advertise DDT, save word-of-mouth. Most just want to come in, get an update, see all the pertinent Dinar daily information, and then get on with their lives.
Because of this response, I felt it necessary to upgrade the way I present the information, links, sites, forums, news, and chats, so as to create a cleaner, more professional site to manage. FRANK26 POST - KTF Missions 1/26/10
Looks like the ante got upped to get the budget passed.
Now Budget……….. IMO and Hypothetically speaking of course, If you were the US and you had Art 7 as leverage for Iraq to RI their currency how would you play it?
I would want to make sure that Iraq held up to their end of the deal. Now if the Exchange Rate Mech was in the budget then the US knows its done and can release Iraq from Art 7 and M can make his announcement.
I wish to share the following with you Family……..our team last week reported that the budget would be passed this week. Yesterday a military source from Iraq sent word to us not to be concerned that the budget was not passed as expected on Monday. They would pick up the politicians from their homes and drive them to parliament to make sure there were enough in attendance for a passage. That’s why I told you……not to worry yesterday……..that it would pass today. We were also told that at 6am this morning Shabibi and his full staff met at the CBI for ……..obvious reasons. I have taken us to 9.5 as of today. We are looking for O to quickly mention that Iraq is a sovereign nation. If he mentions that CH7 is lifted………then we are at the highest level of alert for the RI announcement that we have ever been at ………..on the 29th ……..this coming Friday. I mentioned this yesterday and I find it important enough to call your attention to it again. The four major banks……for the first time are seeing the IQD with her rate. This can only be seen internally within the banking systems. High level management has the ability to see activities from their mother banks. They are seeing the banking systems communicate with each other on their own. Data, such as a rate……..will appear so that the computers acknowledge. This type of data only stays up for 5 to 15 minutes. Yesterday night I answered a post about the area code. I gave what I considered to be a possible spread. Go back and find it on your own if you wish to see it. Please do not bring it forward……..leave it where it is at………but use it for your knowledge. IMO……….the CBI may possibly refuse to put up any info this coming Friday. First of all it’s a religious holiday for them. Second of all……..it’s their bank……..it’s their currency……it’s their country……they can do whatever they want. But I will tell you this………our government will let the four major banks know and automatically FOREX and other counters will pick it up instantly. Stay with FOREX Family…….especially on Friday. Here’s an interesting side note……our team has noticed that websites once easily accessible……..are no longer available. Such as Maliki’s website……the Cabinet Minister’s and many main government websites cannot be found any longer. The one that really makes me smile is Naharain site. This is where our newshounds like to get a lot of their articles. Right now Family the less you know………the greater the security for the GOI.
I promised TAMPATOM that I would not talk to any Hollywood directors or writers while I was with KTFM. I have given him permission to be the first to take our story to his people . I have turned down one writer and 3 book publishing companies that have contacted me for the rights. I told them I am too busy right now to deal with such matters at the moment. The last one was back in October ’09 …….I told them the movie that you seek has already been made. To the publishers I said the book that you seek ……..has already been written. Little did I know that on the 15th of this month…..when the last of my intel came in…….a movie would be released with an amazing coincidental similarity to our last 14 months together. It is called………THE BOOK OF ELI. Without knowing it back in October I told these people that what they sought was already done. How does God work? Yes…….in many ways. If you have not seen the movie then do not read my outline because it will spoil it for you. But if you have seen it………check this out.
Sometimes one has to hide with his own camouflage and be perfectly still ……….to know ……..in the hunt for the food we call intel.

So many times we feel we have arrived only to be shot in the stomach by the one or two that wish to discourage and live in a world of negativity. It does not kill us as the hand of God comes down from the clouds in the LIGHTning to pick us back up.
Wounded ………emotionally…….but not spiritually we get back on the road with a bullet in our guts because we walk to the west with FAITH never giving up our mission for God. Something makes us hold on to our dinars even when there seems to be no hope or reason any longer.
His mission took 30 years to travel to the West and deliver the Word. It has only taken us 7 years to be equipped to go to the four corners of the world.
We have told you ………shown you…….described to you that to know me you must cross a body of water and find me…….on my island.

White House urges Kurds to settle their disputes with Baghdad
WASHINGTON (Reuters): The United States urged on Tuesday leaders of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region in northern Iraq to resolve their disputes over borders and oil revenues with Baghdad and support the elections scheduled for Iraq on the seventh of March.
Clinton said U.S. Secretary of State will raise these points when she meets with Massoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Regional Government in northern Iraq for talks on Tuesday aimed at preventing tensions between Arabs and Kurds to undermine Iraq's stability.
It is feared that the Kurds are trying to Arab national government in Baghdad reduction of de facto independence that they enjoy since the Gulf War in 1991, immediately after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.
Seeks U.S. President Barack Obama to end the hostilities in Iraq by 31 August 2010 before a full withdrawal by the end of 2011. Clinton told officials of the U.S. State Department before meeting with Barzani, it Stdaoh "to work for a peaceful solution on some of the disputed border, particularly around Kirkuk and support of the elections."

Announced that the Electoral Commission on Tuesday that it has received a decision from the accountability and justice requires the removal of nine political entities from participating in the elections, set for the start of campaigns for political entities to participate in upcoming parliamentary elections.
A member of the Electoral Commission for elections Hamdiya Husseini said in an interview for "Alsumaria News", "The Electoral Commission has identified the seventh of February as a date for the start of the electoral campaign of political entities to participate in the upcoming legislative elections."

It may have taken months of haggling and brinkmanship but Iraq’s general elections are now due to take place early in March. They will determine the 325 members of the Council of Representatives, who are in turn due to elect a president and prime minister.
Many investors in the country argue it is not who wins the elections that is important, or even the precise level of unrest that surrounds the polls, so much as the fact that elections take place at all. Having patience and taking a long-term view in Iraq are paramount, they say.
“We tend to look at micro trends and ignore the macro. The overall trend continues to move forward,” says Adam Such, a former commander of a US military unit that fought in Iraq after the invasion of 2003. Mr Such is now executive vice-president of C3 Invest, a California-based private equity fund.
C3’s investments in Iraq have ranged from installation of a fibre optic network in Baghdad to plans to develop Al Zawra Park, an entertainment zone in the capital.
The country remains a high-risk investment destination amid continual concerns about instability and sectarian and ethnic tensions, particularly as the US is due to withdraw all its combat troops this year.
A government decision last week to exclude more than 500 candidates, mainly Sunni Arabs, from the elections threatens to cause further tensions. Iraq is also plagued by rampant corruption and an inefficient bureaucracy, factors that have combined with security concerns to stymie much needed investment.
The Al Zawra project, however, is just the type of scheme the US and Iraqi authorities are keen to promote as marking the direction in which the country is moving nearly seven years after the invasion.
Early investors in Iraq included mobile phone companies. The country now has three mobile operators, two of them foreign controlled – Kuwait’s Zain; Korek, which is strong in Kurdistan; and Asiacell, a unit of Qatar Telecommunications.
Then, tortured negotiations over the lucrative oil sector captured the foreign investment headlines.
The hydrocarbons sector was hamstrung by delays in putting in place a workable law, turf battles between Baghdad and the Kurdish region over fields in northern Iraq, and complaints by foreign oil companies over unreasonable terms, which caused a botched auction of oil contracts last June.
But, given the scope for development and Iraq’s potentially huge reserves, even these delays did not deter investors. In a more successful licensing round in December, seven of 10 available areas were licensed, and on better than expected terms.
Even outside the oil sector, Iraq is slowly attracting more foreign direct investment. According to fDi Markets, a crossborder investment tracking service owned by the Financial Times, Iraq received 19 greenfield investment projects last year totalling $2.52bn as of November (compared with 18 in 2008). There was an increase in the latter part of the year in particular.
Last October, at an investment summit in Washington, Iraqi officials presented 750 projects in 12 sectors to potential investors. The event was attended by roughly 1,000 people, including representatives of companies such as BAE Systems, Boeing, Honeywell and Motorola.
Also present were Nouri al-Maliki, the prime minister, and most of his cabinet, and the governors and heads of investment commissions of all the Iraqi provinces.
The Iraqi government announced in Washington that foreign investors in real estate and construction projects could now own land – a significant development for a country where land ownership is a highly sensitive subject. Foreigners do not need an Iraqi partner for these projects, and there are some investment incentives available.
The government has also announced plans for 500,000 new homes to fill a shortfall of millions that are estimated to be needed over the next decade.
Hayder Judi, the project manager of a $100m, 300-room five-star hotel in Baghdad’s international zone, says hospitality is a sector with high potential. The project is being funded by Summit Global Group, a consortium that includes US and Iraqi investors.
“Hospitality facilities are something Iraq needs a lot of and with other types of projects you sometimes have to be careful not to step on any toes because of political sensitivities. This is not the case with a hotel project; it is a safe investment in a sense,” Mr Judi says.
Elsewhere, the five-star Mnawi Basha hotel opened in central Basrah last July. Iraqi-owned Le Royal has plans for a new five-star hotel in Arbil that will have 260 rooms plus 11 buildings for long-lease tenants.
Hussain Ali Qaragholi, senior vice-president and Iraq business head for Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, leads one of half-a-dozen Islamic banks to have gained a toehold in Iraq in recent years.
“We expect investment decisions to move forward without waiting for election results,” Mr Qaragholi says.

BANK OF IRAQ ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF ADVANCES AND LOANS TO STATE EMPLOYEES

An official at the Bank of a statement it was decided to launch the predecessor to all staff in the State and all organizations covered by the regulations and the Ministry of Finance through the Bank's branches in Baghdad and the provinces.

The source indicated that advances will include government employees in accordance with guidelines and procedures will be later on that not to exceed the amount of the advance (5) Million dinars and not exceeding the monthly deduction for premium and interest on (50%) of the total income of the borrowers and an annual interest rate (6%) The repayment period is five years and credit the employee who has installed the service of not less than one year after the sponsor to provide a guarantor.
The source noted that "advances retirees not to exceed three million dinars, and an interest rate (6%) per year and the duration of payment of six years after the submission sponsor and conduct of the branches that are pension payments."

FINALLY some good news for us Dinar Currency speculators! I’m extremely interested to hear what the number crunchers in the crowd are going to have to say about this one, for several reasons. The Iraqi federal budget has been held up by debates for several weeks, primarily for political reasons.
I mentioned months ago that the budget was going to be a big issue, and not for economic reasons… for political reasons. Political reasons such as Prime Minister Maliki’s upcoming electoral opponents wanted to make sure he was not able to use any state resources to fund his March 7 election campaign… the plot thickens, as always!
After what seems like a hundred years of sissy-footing around, the Iraqi parliament passed a 2010 federal budget earlier today (Tuesday January 26 2010) that puts federal spending at $72.4 billion (84.7 trillion Iraqi Dinars). The budget also sets a deficit this year of $19.6 billion (22.9 trillion Iraqi Dinars).
Iraqi government income is estimated at about 62 trillion Iraqi Dinars ($53 billion), 95% of which is from crude oil exports. Here’s where the number crunching comments should start: Iraq’s current and projected crude oil exports.
Also of note, the approved budget allows Iraq to seek a $4.5 billion arrangement with the IMF. This has been discussed before, and several times the IMF loans have fallen by the wayside. A trend I have noticed, however, is that when the IMF loan falls through, sometime in the near future an agreement is reached with one country or another that Iraq owes money to. Some debt is forgiven, investment opportunities are arranged for the country that forgives the debt, and Iraq walks away with a stronger foundation upon which to build a secure and financially successful future.

In fact the additional information is so powerful that each and every step confirms the prior one, and continues to build on the solid foundation of FACT that began this analysis. This section includes the one email in this whole document. As you will see as I proceed it is a powerful email and its content strongly suggests that it is legitimate.
What is “Rainbow” and is it relevant to the RV?”
I got a message from Highgrade in which he included an email that he had received earlier that day. In it is a strange translation from Arabic in which the term “rainbow” appears. Highgrade suggested that I do some research and then we might discuss it in chat.
I’ve decided to bring you all along with me as I show you the methodology I use to unravel strange documents. Hopefully by doing this you will all be encouraged to join me and we will uncover more “nuggets” of truth as this process continues. In any case I’m sure you will find it fun. Consider yourselves all Watsons to me, Sherlock Holmes.
I will admit to the following: on reading the PM from Highgrade I was dumbfounded at first. I even wrote him back and said something to this affect: “Where do I start? Is rainbow a thing or a person. I’m stumped. Help me out here!”
Then, 20 minutes and a martini later, I decided to see what I could do with this cryptic email in an attempt to find the truth behind the nuggets it contained.
Here is the email that he included in his message to me and which he asked me to research:

When I first look at any document I ask myself what data I can use to enhance my understanding. These two items stood out like banners. So I began with a simple Google search. The first was on the “Governor of Najaf”.
Among the links this is what I found most important. It is a press release from Iraq dated 6 May 2004:

I got a message from Highgrade in which he included an email that he had received earlier that day. In it is a strange translation from Arabic in which the term “rainbow” appears. Highgrade suggested that I do some research and then we might discuss it in chat.
I’ve decided to bring you all along with me as I show you the methodology I use to unravel strange documents. Hopefully by doing this you will all be encouraged to join me and we will uncover more “nuggets” of truth as this process continues. In any case I’m sure you will find it fun. Good evening Family,
I am pressed for time and I apologize for that Family. Work has created less time in my life. This afternoon I had a meeting at my restaurant with seven businessmen of my city to discuss using the IQD as a vehicle to pay off our city’s deficit. As businessmen we do not wish to see our fair city be turned over to anyone to run it! I am pleased to say that after our meeting today much was learned and accomplished . Sometimes it takes the ability if not the strength to think outside of the box. I suggested that we take these dinars and put them in a 5013c that is already established and Christian based or in a Charitable Trust but certainly not to turn them over to the city politicians. It is a politician’s nature to find ways to spend money…….not to pay the bills that they have already made. I ask for your prayers on this subject Family because IMO…….if these prominent businessmen purchase a million dinars each ……..it would make a difference for our city. The goal is to hit 30 contributors to this project. I will report to you the progress so that you can maybe apply it to your city as well too. This idea was presented to our mayor at his inaugural dinner last week and he was impressed enough to send a representative.
It looks like there was no budget passed today……when there was supposed to be one. Somehow or another it’s not so surprising. They used the excuse that some bombings cancelled the parliament’s vote to evacuate the politicians. I doubt it. Especially when the bombings were later in the afternoon…….and they were meeting in the morning. They still don’t know how to lie……..very well. Will they vote on it tomorrow? IMO the odds are very high that they will for two reasons. Before they do anything they like to make everybody’s lives miserable by creating some type of a delay. So at least they have opened the door not to delay tomorrow………..because they delayed today. Secondly……..because the following day on Wednesday O will be doing his State of the Union speech. If an RI is in the works as intel is indicating then O’s speech should be heavily laced with verbiage important to you and I as IQD investors. If he mentions that they are a sovereign nation ………the common person listening would probably have that sentence go in one ear and out the other. But to you and I …….it would mean a lot. I have always said that it is the ransom they seek. The only way to get it is to raise the value of their currency. It certainly is not for them to fulfill CH7 requirements……..BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALL BEEN MET ALREADY! I have shared with you an area code………… and right now I want to reiterate the time frame we are considering. Our intel is very interested from the 29th to the 7th/8th of February. I will not reveal the mechanics of why we favor this time. Instead allow me to share an article with you.

وقال الناطق الرسمي بأسم الحكومة العراقية علي الدباغ في تصريح نقله مراسل ( وكالة انباء الاعلام العراقي / واع ) ان الموافقة على الصرف يكون ضمن الفترة التي تبدأ بتاريخ 31/1/2010 على حساب موازنة 2009 نظرا للضروف الطارئة والاستثنائية على ان يسجل الصرف على المشاريع الاستثمارية الجديدة He said government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told state reporter (news agency, Iraqi Information / conscious) the approval of the exchange rate is within the period beginning on 31/1/2010 at the expense of the 2009 budget because of unforeseen and extraordinary Dharov that record spending on investment projects New وان القرار داعا وزارة المالية لتنفيذ ماتقدم . Goodbye, and the decision of the Ministry of Finance to implement the foregoing.
This came out a few weeks ago and I have been keeping my eye on it. For now allow me to say that it falls within our time frame. There is one more document that I want to show you. I know that the MOP report has been out for awhile with a 1.13 three year test period for the exchange rate but I want you to look at amendment #2 because it is talking about a rate I do not recall . They even go as far as to call it the official exchange rate. A rate that should be less than $3.082. Not too sure how to interpret this ………it may be even old and I am not aware of it. But the printing was done on the 24th so I can’t help but to be curious and study this further.

BAMA gave us an article on resolution 661. This was signed on Nov. 17th, 2008 with both the US and Iraq agreeing. It was supposed to come to an end in Dec. 2008 but it didn’t they kept extending it. This is a strategic framework agreement. It’s almost like a plan that was in the making ……….and then derailed. It makes me feel that there is more that can be offered as a ransom than just CH7. Agreements that were made in the past need a reason to come true today. Kind of like their budget. This is the first budget that projects infrastructure rebuilding and growth. These projects will be null and void without the proper funds. Yes there has been a lot of money lent to Iraq and forgiven. But that along with their oil potential IMO……..is the strong foundation for the RI announcement. Yes they can go another year and remove the infrastructure projects by having the 2010 budget set at 1170. But it makes no sense because they would simply be repeating…….2009. Too much time, manpower and money has been spent to bring Iraq back into the world of recognition. Not only do they want their currency to be accepted ………but they as a people yearn to also be once again accepted by the world.
Due to my time I will share with you my interpretation of the book of Eli tomorrow. I found a lot of similarities between the writer’s theme and KTFM. You will be surprised the synopsis that I bring you……..so please go see it as soon as you can because I want to talk to you about it.

Met with the Joint Coordinating Committee between the two sides, Khatib on the Iraqi political cooperation and the diplomat at the Iraqi Foreign Ministry in Baghdad on Sunday.
A media source in the ministry in a press statement embedded reporter (News Agency, Iraqi Information / conscious) He presided over the Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari told the U.S. side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of America Mr. Jeff Feltman has been traded during the meeting issues of mutual concern in addition to the conditions facing the region and means of enhancing the chances of providing security and stability to Iraq and the region in general, as The meeting addressed ways to exit Iraq from Chapter VII of money and work on Iraq will regain its international status that it enjoyed before the adoption of resolution 661 of 1990, the United States meet its obligations in this regard based on the agreement to withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq and the organization and existence, corresponding to it.

I found this information chat on Dinar Vets, and felt it was definitely worth sharing here on DDT's. Apparently, BB&T (a bank out of North Carolina) offers bank accounts for different currencies. I haven't done much research on them yet, so just take this information and do your own research. Here are some posts from DV that will help you with your own research on them. It seems promising.

We do sell/buy Iraqi Dinars. You do have to have an account with BB&Tand you would have to take the currency into the branch and they wouldbe able to help you. The currency is a collection item which means youwill not receive immediate credit. Please let us know if you have anymore questions.

I work in a BB&T building in Alabama stop and talk with the officer/manager of the bank on a regular basis. They house a lot of executives at this branch who by the way have invested in the dinar as well, and have been informed by the bank that there will not be a "bank" fee (just a fee for their currency vendor). Also, there will be no wait for it to be verified, it will immediately be deposited into your account (minus those fees for the currency vendor). The officer explained to me that they would not charge a fee because they were estactic to have our business and all our money (LOL).

House of Representatives voted at its regular twenty-eighth session, held on Monday the twenty fifth of January 2010 under the chairmanship of Mr. Iyad Samarrai, President of the Council on the seven laws.
He asked the President of the Council meeting, which began by reading verses from the Quran on the stage reached by the general budget for 2010, for its part indicated MP Alaa Sadoun, chairman of the Finance Committee that the budget law for 2010 will be presented to the Council on the morning of Tuesday the vote.
The Council voted on the disengagement law department of the Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works and Law departments and disengagement of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in view of the entry into force of the law of governorates not organized in a region number (21) for the year 2008 and the abolition of the laws contained in Article (53) thereof and the fact that the functions of the Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works does not fall within the terms of reference contained in Article (110) and Article (114) of the Constitution.
The Council voted on the law of non-governmental organizations in order to secure the establishment of NGOs and accession guaranteed by the Constitution for the purpose of registration of Iraqi non-governmental organizations and branches of foreign NGOs.
On the other hand, the Council voted approval of the law on compensation for property affected by the former regime, which came in its explanatory memorandum to compensate the affected citizens in their movable and immovable property by the practices of the former regime, the value of movable and immovable property belonging to them have been confiscated or destroyed or frozen for political reasons or ethnic or sectarian is not covered by the law of the property disputes.
After the Council voted on the law of the first amendment to the law of the provinces to address the questions that exposed the practical application of the law of governorates not organized in a region number (21) for the year 2008 with regard to appeal decisions of the end boards and ensure the accuracy of the decisions of these councils, and the inclusion of members of municipal councils and districts formed after 9 / 3 / 2003 on pensions, in addition to the vote on the law to impose income tax on oil companies, foreign contractors in Iraq to support the Iraqi economy, and saw the meeting also voted on the protection of wild animals.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq’s Oil Ministry on Monday completed a deal with U.S. major Exxon Mobil and Anglo-Dutch giant Shell to develop production in West Qurna-1, the war-torn country’s second biggest field.
“Signing the deal with the Exxon Mobil and Anglo-Dutch aims to increase the production from 285,000 barrels-per-day to 2,325,000 barrels-per-day,” Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahrestani said during the siging ceremony, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
West Qurna-1 in southern Iraq has reserves of around 8.5 billion barrels, according to Oil Ministry figures. Exxon Mobil and Shell will receive 1.90 dollars per additional barrel extracted from West Qurna 1.
The deal was initially agreed on November 5, following a bid late June at Iraq’s first international oil auction since the industry was nationalised in 1972.
A second auction in December saw Iraq award contracts to foreign majors including Russia’s Lukoil, which will work with junior partner StatoilHydro of Norway to develop the neighbouring West Qurna-2 field. The companies are expected to complete that deal on Saturday, Jihad added.
West Qurna-2, with known reserves of 12.9 billion barrels, lies west of the equally enormous Majnoon field, which was auctioned in December to Shell and Malaysia’s Petronas.
At 115 billion barrels, Iraq has the world’s third-largest proven oil reserves, behind only Saudi Arabia and Iran. Oil sales provide 85 percent of government revenues.
Despite accusations that the United States led the 2003 invasion of Iraq to grab its oil wealth, Exxon Mobil was the only U.S. major to have been awarded a contract in the two auctions last year.

BAGHDAD The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is looking for Iraqi friends on Facebook.
The embassy launched the page Thursday with the aim of reaching out to Iraqis who want to learn more about American culture and society, the latest step by the State Department to boost interest in Iraq's burgeoning online culture and promote Web entrepreneurship.
The State Department has organized a number of high-profile visits to Iraq in recent months by top executives from Google, Twitter, AT&T and others. Recently, the embassy assisted in setting up a YouTube channel for the Iraqi government.
The Facebook page launch came the same day U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made a speech about Internet freedom and its place in U.S. foreign policy. The embassy rolled out the page after a two-month test run on Facebook, said Philip Frayne, an embassy spokesman in Baghdad.
"We didn't get 2 million fans," he said. "The natural audience for embassy Facebook pages is not enormous."
But by late Thursday, the page had more than 800 fans - nearly matching the number of Facebook fans of the U.S. Embassy in London.
More than 170 U.S. diplomatic missions around the world have Facebook pages, according to the State Department.
Chief among the Baghdad page's attractions is the "English Language Corner" where Iraqis can learn how to use English-language expressions such as "once in a blue moon."
In the coming weeks, Frayne said the page will spotlight American music, sports and holidays.
Anyone can post questions and comments on the page, though it is monitored for inappropriate content, Frayne said.
"If it is pornographic or inciting violence, we have the ability to take it down," he said.
So will the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad follow up with a Twitter account in a country where cellular telephone service is routinely spotty and Internet access often nonexistent?
"I don't know," Frayne said. "Cell phone coverage in Iraq is not great."
Under former dictator Saddam Hussein, Internet access was limited to just one provider, and e-mail and phone calls were monitored and censored by the Ministry of Communications and security agencies.
After Saddam was toppled in the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, dozens of wireless Internet providers started business and hundreds of Internet cafes were opened in the capital, Baghdad, and other provinces.
While Internet coverage is relatively limited thanks in large part to routine power outages and limited provider availability, the number of Iraqis accessing the Web has been increasing at a rapid rate.
