IRAQ WILL NOT SURRENDER VAST OIL RICHES

BAGHDAD, Dec 18 (Reuters) - Iraq will clarify its position regarding reports that Iranian soldiers occupied an oilfield within Iraqi territory, Iraq's interior minister said on Friday, vowing Iraq would not surrender any of its vast oil riches. Jawad al-Bolani, speaking on al-Arabiya television, said the Iraqi government would make a statement on events at Fakka oilfield. An Iraqi security source and media reports said the field had been occupied, at least briefly, by Iranian soldiers.
"Iraqis will not give up its oil wealth, whatever the reason," he told al-Arabiya. No further details were immediately available.
