The change of year this year will be greeted by a lunar eclipse. On Dec 31 - Jan 01 Earth will experience its fourth of four lunar eclipses this year.
On December 31st 2009 → January 1st 2010 the Earth will experience it’s 4th of 4 lunar eclipses. This will be a partial eclipse, rather than a full lunar eclipse.
The eclipse on December 31st 2009 → January 1st 2010 will be completely visible over Australia, Africa, Europe and Asia, through it will be difficult to see with the naked eye. This partial eclipse will last for a total of 4 hours. The next total eclipse will be able to be seen on December 21st 2010.
